Waterfront Properties and Club Communities’ project manager set out with his team of cyclists the morning of April 20, 2013 to pedal 180 miles from Miami to the tip of the Florida Keys and back to Miami. Because of bad weather, team On Your Mark logged 108 miles.

Still, Matthew Steinhoff and team On Your Mark helped bring in $2,075 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s South Florida Chapter during the Zimmerman MS Bike Ride. Proceeds will support research efforts and patient programs that aid the 7,000-plus South Florida residents who have and are affected by the disease.

The Zimmerman MS Bike Ride entailed an overnight stop in Key Largo at mile marker 99 after a course that led riders through neighborhoods of South Florida homes, including municipalities Cutler, Leisure City and Olympia Heights. The point of departure was the Modesto A. Maidique Campus at Florida International University.

“We took a picture in front of Jack’s and then headed back to the hotel for a shower,” Steinhoff said. “It was already raining in Miami, so we turned around. FedEx was kind enough to send a few trucks to get our bikes from there to the finish line.”

Steinhoff has participated in the Zimmerman MS Bike Ride four times. The Palm Beach Gardens resident also has ridden in the Memphis MS-150 and collectively has raised more than $2,000 for the nonprofit organization and its mission. He has worked at Waterfront Properties and Club Communities for three years.
