How many sales training videos expose the viewer to clips from old government films, long-forgotten theatrical movies, post-WWII ad footage and music that was written during the Eisenhower administration – all wrapped around eye-popping graphics?
Eddystone, PA (PRWEB) May 23, 2013
The Selling Essentials Minute, produced by the creative content department of Rapid Learning Institute (RLI), is making a strong connection with its audience of sales professionals. RLI released their 25th episode this week, garnering over 27,000 views on iTunes, while their YouTube page boasts over 130,000 views.
Some of the subjects have included:
- how best to deal with voice mail
- getting past gatekeepers
- the worst thing you can say to a client
- how a price objection is like tossing a hot potato.
Other topics are in the works. The most recent episode, inspired by one of RLI’s Quick Take sales training modules, explores how sales reps can utilize LinkedIn to get the most out of networking events.
“The feedback we’ve been getting on the Selling Essentials Minutes has been phenomenal,” says RLI CEO Stephen Meyer. “Sure, they’re different from other sales training videos we’ve seen, but the people who watch them tell us that what they learn from the Minutes really sticks with them. I think that says a lot about the power of creativity… and humor.”
The Minutes originated with RLI Executive Editor Michael Boyette. He asked former Philadelphia television reporter Gerald Kolpan to come up with a new video series built around scripts that were about one minute long and based on RLI’s signature Quick Take rapid learning modules.
“I told Gerald he could do whatever he wanted, and boy, did he.” says Boyette. “A week later, I was treated to a dizzying array of retro footage, old-time music and colorful graphics plus video he shot himself. We showed the first one to everybody here, and they went wild... in a good way.”
“These are a blast to do,” says Kolpan, who won eight Emmy awards at his old job. “I get to write them, hunt down all this old public domain footage and music, shoot new video and then edit the whole thing together. It’s my baby. And it’s nice when people like your baby.”
The Selling Essentials Minutes can be seen free on the RLI website, as well as iTunes (search “Selling Essentials Minute”) and on the RLI Online Training YouTube Channel. The entire series is also available for license.
