After a winter break, some of Chicago’s most popular cruises are re-opening just in time for Smart Destinations customers on a spring vacation to fully enjoy their Chicago experience. Two of the city’s most popular tours, the Chicago Architecture Cruise and the Skyline Lake tour, are now available daily with the Go Chicago Card and the Go Select Chicago Pass.

The legendary Chicago Architecture Cruise is a unique way to tour the city. This cruise winds through the city on the Chicago River, and passes many of the city’s major landmarks. The cruise is led by professional guides who recount Chicago’s architectural history and the aesthetic influence of notable architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Daniel Burnham.

The Skyline Lake tour departs from Navy Pier and explores the city of Chicago from the waters of magnificent Lake Michigan. Viewing highlights include the Hancock Building, the Lighthouse, the Willis Tower, and the Museum Campus, home to Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, and Adler Planetarium.

“The Chicago Architecture Cruise and the Skyline Lake Tour are quintessential Chicago experiences that you can’t get anywhere else,” said Kevin McLaughlin, CEO of Smart Destinations. “These schedule changes makes it easier for our customers to get a real feel for the city in a way that conventional tours don’t provide.”

Go Chicago Card holders can take either of these cruises, and have admission to over 20 other popular Chicago attractions. After seeing the city from the water, visitors may enjoy the view from above: the Willis Tower provides 360-degree panoramic views of the city of Chicago, in addition to a glimpse of four different states. For travelers interested in learning more about the architectural heritage of Chicago, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Chicago home and studio offer frequent tours, and the Wright-designed Robie House is also open to the public. Some kid-friendly attractions in Chicago include the famous Shedd Aquarium and the Chicago Children’s Museum both of which feature special exhibits and events.
