In today’s difficult economic climate, Platinum is prospering. By sourcing materials on our doorstep we are able to build our products more quickly and more cost effectively.
Leeds, West Yorkshire (PRWEB UK) 8 May 2013
New business and an increase in global exports for Platinum Stairlifts, the Yorkshire-based stairlift manufacturer, is not only seeing the company prosper and grow sustainably, but is also having a positive impact on the local economy, resulting in more jobs for local people, and more trade for local businesses.
A new deal with an International online mobility operator, and the recent launch of The Platinum Horizon Straight – an innovative new straight stairlift aimed at the domestic market – has seen Platinum’s business increase dramatically over the last twelve months.
Although UK and Europe remain their biggest market, an impressive 65% of Platinum’s business is exports. The company, which works in 32 countries around the world, has increased its network of re-sellers and dealers in Australia and Europe to deal with the growing demand for their products.
One of the main reasons why the business has been able to grow so sustainably is its philosophy around sourcing locally. Materials and components from suppliers are sourced, wherever possible, locally, which has helped the business to minimise lead-in times and maximise product development schedules.
David Forsyth, Managing Director of Platinum comments: “In today’s difficult economic climate, Platinum’s is a success story, the company is prospering. By sourcing materials on our doorstep we are able to build our products more quickly and more cost effectively. The ‘knock-on employment effect’ on the local economy can only be good.”
Platinum Stairlifts was established in 1996, and today is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of custom built stairlifts for the domestic market. Their main manufacturing plant is located in Crosshills in West Yorkshire, where around 70 staff are employed in the factory premises, and it is here that the company is clearly making an impact on the local jobs market.
Forsyth explains: “The majority of new positions at Platinum are for assembly workers, rail builders and engineering staff in the manufacture of custom-made stairlifts. In the last year alone, we increased our workforce by one third, and we are set to recruit a further 25 employees during 2013.”
Platinum is renowned for its expertise, quality, and award winning products. Having formerly specialised in the design and manufacture of curved stairlifts, Platinum recently developed a new straight stairlift - The Platinum Horizon Straight, which is making an impression worldwide.
Platinum markets its product via an International network of authorised stairlift dealers. The company is the only manufacturer of stairlifts in the UK which does not compete directly with its dealer network.
