Sandra LeDuc brings over 20 years of experience to the rapidly growing Internet marketing agency as their new director of content.

We want to develop one of the best content and social media departments in the industry, and I’m excited to see that happen under Sandra’s leadership.

Seattle-based digital marketing firm Portent, Inc. announced the hire of former Microsoft principal managing editor Sandra LeDuc as its director of content earlier today.

A consummate content and communications professional with over 20 years of digital storytelling, social media and public relations experience, LeDuc will guide creative strategies for the company’s client roster, as well as lead training, development and education for the members of the content and social teams.

“Sandra’s experience at Microsoft makes her an excellent resource for our employees and our clients,” said Steve Gahler, president of Portent. “With her at the helm, I have no doubt the content Portent generates for clients will continue to excel both creatively and strategically.”

Prior to joining Portent, LeDuc held a variety of online marketing and editorial positions at Microsoft. As principal managing editor for the company, she helped establish Microsoft’s presence on Twitter and actively tweeted for the company on a daily basis. LeDuc co-led the effort to revamp Microsoft’s online news channel – microsoft.com/news – to include new digital content types such as video, infographics, blogs, slide shows and third-party news. These efforts led to a significant increase in content reach and engagement for the site, which receives more than one million page views per month.

“As Portent grows, we’re always looking for employees who want to change the world through good marketing,” said Ian Lurie, CEO of Portent. “Sandra is one of those people. We’re not looking for someone who just executes strategy. We want to develop one of the best content and social media departments in the industry, and I’m excited to see that happen under Sandra’s leadership.”

Portent’s explosive growth (including a 22 percent revenue increase in 2012) has created a number of opportunities within the company not only for new hires, but for current employees. LeDuc’s hire comes on the heels of the promotion of Katie Fetting, who will serve as Portent’s first marketing manager.
