I W Marks Jewelers hosted a silent auction on Thursday, May 2, 2013 benefiting the family of fallen Bellaire officer, Sergeant Jimmie DeVeril Norman.

Sergeant Norman dedicated his life to law enforcement for twenty-nine years––twenty-three of which were with the city of Bellaire. He was gunned down during a routine traffic stop on December 24, 2012 and leaves behind his wife of thirty-one years, a son and many extended family members and friends.

When Brad and Daniel Marks heard about the tragic incident and the loss of Sergeant Norman, they like so many others, wanted to help in any way possible. “The Bellaire police department has been an extended family to I W Marks, and our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.”

Individuals and businesses alike rallied together to contribute items for the silent auction which ultimately raised $13,000. One hundred percent of these proceeds will go directly to the Norman family.

Alan Helfman (owner of Helfman Ford, Helfman Dodge Chrystler Jeep Ram, River Oaks Dodge Chrystler Jeep Ram) generously donated a wide array of sports memorabilia that sparked bidding wars amongst attendees.

While making their bids, guests snacked on fare from Gigi’s Asian Bistro and sipped cocktails provided by Izkali Tequila—all provided free-of-charge.

Brad Marks said of the evening, “Despite the unfortunate circumstances, it has been uplifting to see our community come together and give back to such a worthy cause.”

I W Marks has proudly served the Houston area for over thirty-five years. For more information please visit http://www.IWMarks.com.
