Houston, TX (PRWEB) May 08, 2013
1. Highest bill: Houston, TX at $113.41
2. Lowest bill: Los Angeles, CA at $43.93
3. Largest Month over Month (MOM) increase: New York, NY from $66.78 to $76.14
4. Largest MOM decrease: Charlotte, NC from $107.89 to $85.22
The city with the highest bill for March was Houston, TX at $113.41. The greatest increase in monthly bill was New York, NY, from $66.78 in March to $76.14 in April. This is significant from a month over month standpoint, but is clearly not as drastic as Houston’s $113.41 bill.
As in March, Los Angeles, CA once again has the lowest bill at $43.93 in April. Charlotte, NC saw the greatest decrease, which was a decrease of $22.67 compared to its March average bill. Charlotte, NC saw a significant drop in April to $85.22. Charlotte temperatures fluctuated throughout April from lows in the 30’s to highs in the 70’s. This unsteady temperature was the catalyst for Charlotte’s large decrease in electricity bills.
1. Highest bill: New York, NY at $72.37
2. Lowest bill: Phoenix, AZ at $20.97
3. Largest MOM increase: Dallas, TX from $17.57 to $34.61
4. Largest MOM decrease: Philadelphia, PA from $161.59 to $49.43
The highest overall bill for April was New York, NY at $72.37. Indianapolis was a close runner up at $68.19. This is due to the Midwest and Northeast enduring a longer winter season this year. Snow storms continued to crawl through these regions well into the first week of April making natural gas a high priority.
Phoenix had the lowest bill in April at $20.97. This is primarily due to temperatures reaching the high 80’s for most of the month, reducing the need for natural gas. Phoenix will continue to see a huge decline in their natural gas bill as temperatures rise dramatically in the summer and remain consistently hot for most of the year.
The city that saw the largest month over month decrease was Philadelphia, PA, from $161.59 to $49.43. This decrease was significant; however, it still managed to remain in middle of the pack as far as the highest bill goes. The decline of natural gas bills will continue as the nation continues to warm up into the summer.
