Don Fawcett, Local Clicks To Bricks CEO, recently reviewed a number of businesses that use social media sites successfully.
Facebook was found by Mr. Fawcett to be the most used social network used by businesses. However, he said, “It’s also the most underused site.”
Don Fawcett commented, “What many marketers don’t realize is the amount of dead Facebook Pages that were slapped together for small business owners and then left to die out there in cyberspace. The problem is designers and programmers usually don’t know to market. The business needs to engage local consumers. This creates a huge opportunity for the savvy marketer, but many don’t want to take the time to do all the content writing and posts that capture consumers interest. In other words, content matters. Posts matter. What a business is posting matters. So, what we’ve done is added a new service that does it for them.”
According to an article published on Mashable, wall posts on Facebook brand pages was what consumers saw first. Consumers spent more time looking at the posts more than any other element on the page.
The research was done using eye-tracking software that utilizes a webcam and tracks eye movement of a participant. The eye movement creates what is called an eye-tracking map for the business.
Don Fawcett commented, “Eye tracking is a useful tool. It confirms that consumers are really reading posts and not just looking at pretty pictures posted on a business’ page. So, what we’ve done for local marketer that helps small businesses is give them a tool they can use to have the content and posts written for them. This is at least 50% of the workload in any social media marketing campaign.”
