Kenny Goodman, founder of Find the Edge, has said that entrepreneurs and businesspeople can learn how to tailor their service to their target market by legally eavesdropping on them - in an article uploaded to the business site earlier today.

Find the Edge founder, Kenny Goodman, believes legally eavesdropping on target markets is one of the best ways to understand their true motivations, and convert them from prospects into customers.

He uses an article on the business website he founded earlier in the year to explain where some of the best places to find valuable information relating to the challenges prospects experience are.

He said: "The best way to discover their true needs is to completely understand the problems they face. To gain this knowledge, you need to find the locations where they communicate these problems openly.

"Put simply – you need to know where they hang out! This is where the legal eavesdropping comes in."

He then recommends a number of online and offline locations, where it's possible to get an idea of the challenges that business people are facing on a daily basis. Among these locations are online business forums.

He said: "If you’re looking to add value to the business world, and consequently your target audience are businesses, then a great place to start is online forums.

"You can look at general business forums, or search for more specific forums that are targeted towards your particular target niche.

"These forums provide golden nuggets of information, because you can look at threads over the last month, three months or even longer – you will eventually start to notice patterns in the problems of contributors."

He also recommends using other tools such as web site Analytics, and a free Google keyword tool to analyse target markets.
