Angela Hoffman, executive director of the Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce, is asking residents why they should play in the 30th-Annual Hobe Sound Golf Tournament. There are many reasons, Hoffman said, the first of which is the fact that the fundraiser is taking place at one of Florida’s top-ranked courses: Hobe Sound Golf Club.

She also said the specially designed links surrounded by homes for sale in Hobe Sound are demanding yet fun to play and the Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce is honored the exclusive club is opening its doors to tournament participants.

Other reasons to play in the Hobe Sound Golf Tournament, set for May 10, 2013, include helping to celebrate the event’s three-decade milestone, contributing to a nonprofit organization that helps small businesses in the Martin County area and enhances the quality of life, meeting local leaders and taking advantage of an opportunity to network, and promoting individual companies by showing them off to the community.

“In South Florida, the golf course is equivalent to the board room when it comes to getting business done,” Hoffman said.

Hoffman said several surprises are in store for the 30th-anniverary event. The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. Entry fees, which include a cart, greens fees and refreshments on the course, followed by an awards dinner with a silent auction, are $150 per player. Proceeds will enable the Home Sound Chamber of Commerce to grant student scholarships, sponsor community functions and offer new programs.
