Judy will be sorely missed around here...she has been an invaluable employee to the company and as a dear friend to me.
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) May 15, 2013
It’s a somber day at Len the Plumber where tears of joy and sadness are being shed. Len the Plumber has reached a major milestone with its very first employee, Judy Cox, retiring from the company. As much as the staff will miss her, they know that she is excited to start the next chapter of her life.
Judy Cox has worked with Len the Plumber since the beginning. She started on May 1, 1996 as a “jack of all trades” for Len after the company she had worked for was closing. At that time there were a total of five employees at Len the Plumber. Her role was to dispatch, manage the books, and take care of anything else that was needed.
Judy chuckles as she remembers her first day, “I arrived at 8:00 a.m. not sure of what I’d be doing. Len leaves half an hour later and wished me luck.” She put it best saying that they muddled through in the early years helping grow the business and helping each other grow through the years.
Judy, better known as “Miss Judy” around the office, settled into her current role of Accounts Payable as the company grew. On top of her hard work, getting the bills paid on time, and more importantly, processing payroll, she always made sure everyone had lunch.
Shane Barry jokes,“I think I’ll miss how our conversations started at 10:30 a.m. for what we were going to have for lunch that day.”
While she is sad to leave Len the Plumber, she is already making big plans for retirement. She would like to become a master baker. “I’ve always enjoyed baking but have never been very good at making bread.”
She also plans to spend more time in her garden and with her favorite pet rabbit, Floyd. Her husband, Steve, is also retired and tells her there is plenty that they will do together.
“Judy will be sorely missed around here,” says Len Bush, owner of Len the Plumber. “She has been an invaluable employee to the company and as a dear friend to me.”
