Through self-help come: self-esteem, self-worth, and finally, dignity.
Vienna, VA (PRWEB) May 10, 2013
George Lizama, Founder and CEO of Tysons Corner-based Production Solutions, one of the largest direct marketing production and logistics management firms in the country, was bestowed the highest honor of “Community Champion” on May 3 before an audience of more than 500 at the Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) “Road to Independence” Gala.
Lizama credited NVFS for helping the innocent, the humble, poor, and those “who can’t catch a break.” The local business leader, renowned for his marketing accomplishments, was instrumental in launching NVFS’ Training Futures program. He summarized the experiences of the 30,000 clients that NVFS touches each year: “Through self-help come: self-esteem, self-worth, and finally, dignity.”
Lizama has been an active volunteer and fundraiser for NVFS for 14 years. He served on the Board of Directors for 11 years and has chaired the Gala Sponsorship and Auction Committees. He has also been an active volunteer for the Direct Marketing Association of Washington (DMAW) for over 30 years. He was honored by the DMAW in 2006 with “The Award for Distinguished Achievement in Direct Marketing” as well as by Washington Business Journal in 2008 as “CEO Philanthropist of the Year.” Well-respected in the direct marketing industry, Lizama publishes a popular weekly blog, Production Interrupted that covers his “candid confessions and complaints” and offers best practices to non-profit and direct marketing professionals.
According to Mary Agee, NVFS President and CEO, “George has made immeasurable contributions to children and families in Northern Virginia. He received NVFS’ Community Champion Award today due to his unwavering sense of Excellence in Service in his company, and in the direct marketing industry, but most of all because George is ‘passion personified’ and one of the most dedicated volunteers you will ever encounter.”
