Spend Memorial Day weekend making wishes come true at The Pignic, May 25th & 26th at Fort Ritchie in Cascade, Maryland. The weekend’s feature event is the Kansas City BBQ Competition with professional teams from around the country competing for cash, prizes, and the title of Grand Champion. All money raised will go to Make-A-Wish, an organization that grants wishes for children with terminal, life-threatening and life-altering illness in Washington County, Maryland and Franklin County, Pennsylvania.

The Pignic features a full weekend of events including backyard BBQ competitions, an arts show, music festival, car show, motorcycle run, kids events, military tributes, and the Makin’ Bacon 5K/10K Run with bacon stations along the course.

In an effort to make Memorial Day more than just a three-day weekend, Make-A-Wish has partnered with the Franklin County Kiwanis Club and the Washington County Community Action Council to float over 2,000 candlelit lilies onto Lake Royer as the sun sets, each lily in memory of a veteran or fallen soldier whose name will be read in front of a color guard. Project Lily is selling candle lilies for $10 each.

For more information or if you are interested in selling lilies at your business, please call (301) 797-4161 or email at kbuchanan(at)wccac(dot)org.

The Pignic is open to the public. Admission price is $8/carload. Soldiers in uniform get in free. For more information and for a schedule of events visit http://www.thepignic.com.
