This grant will help ensure that the many families who remain in danger of foreclosure can receive confidential counseling assistance in a safe environment.

Today Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management, Inc. (“Springboard”) announced that it has received $3.4 million to support foreclosure prevention counseling efforts. The much-needed boost will enable Springboard to meet an increase in demand for mortgage delinquency and foreclosure prevention counseling to homeowners in danger of foreclosure. Springboard offers free counseling through the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program.

Although much has been written in recent months about a rebound in the housing market, the fact is not all communities are bouncing back at the same rate. At a time when foreclosures continue to affect communities around the country and unemployment rates remain stubbornly high, the need for the counseling is critical.

The grant to support Springboard’s foreclosure prevention counseling efforts was provided by funds from the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling (“NFMC”) Program. The NFMC Program is administered through a competitive application process by NeighborWorks® America, within guidelines defined by Congressional legislation.

“We are elated to receive such a significant grant award,” said Todd Emerson, Springboard’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Springboard is in the business of helping people. Knowing that we can now assist even more individuals and families through quality counseling and education is exhilarating for our organization,” said Emerson.

“This grant will help ensure that the many families who remain in danger of foreclosure can receive confidential counseling assistance in a safe environment,” said Emerson. Springboard is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development approved intermediary and provides housing and credit counseling nationwide.
