The IDEAg Group, producer of the IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference where interconnected Ag solutions providers, precision Ag users and other thought leaders meet to share ideas on the future of connected agriculture, announced its content sessions for this year’s event, slated for June 26-27, at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, IA.

Highlighting the first day of the conference, are two panel discussions that take a forward look at where interconnected technologies can assist producers in capturing and making sense of data to enhance on-farm productivity and profitability; followed by a session that analyzes what current tools are working and what’s on the horizon for emerging technologies. Panelists include Jerry Roell of John Deere, Paul Welbig of Raven Industries and Kelby Kleinsasser of Ag Integrated.

The afternoon session features a producer and retailer panel who share their experience on how they’re leveraging technologies to enhance their bottom line. In addition, Professor Kevin Price of Kansas State University will discuss how drone technology could be the next crop management tool in a crop consultants’ tool chest.

According to Interconnectivity Conference Content Director Mike Martin, the connective tissue for all of the education sessions is how data is harnessed and shared along a continuum of a typical growing season. “From harvest to planting and back again, every farm has the capacity to generate a significant amount of important data. Our conference track will walk through what data should be captured, help provide ideas to integrate data and, most importantly, turn data into information that supports decision-making.”

Day two of the conference leads off with an Outlook session where the discussion takes a step back from on-farm technology, to provide critical perspective on the issues that affect a producer’s risk-management decisions. Highlighting the session is Dr. Elwin Taylor of Iowa State University who shows that we might be entering a long-term period of volatile weather that could increase risk, and discuss his use of new weather sensor technology in Iowa.

Matt Bechdol, president of GeoSilos, will close the day by using the conference theme; Interconnectivity. The Power of Knowledge. Shared., as a springboard to discuss whether agriculture is truly positioned and willing to pool and share data that helps everyone be more efficient and productive.
