Professor G. Ray Warner, of counsel at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, has been selected by INSOL International, the International Association of Restructuring Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals, as the incoming course leader of their Global Insolvency Practice. The tenure will be for two years with the first term commencing in September 2014.
The offer, which Warner has accepted, adds to a long list of professional accomplishments including a recent American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) Service Award.
In addition to being a member of Greenberg Traurig’s Business Reorganization & Financial Restructuring Department in New York, Warner is a professor of law and the associate dean for bankruptcy studies at St. John's University School of Law in New York. Prior to joining the St. John's faculty, Professor Warner was the William B. Boreland Distinguished Scholar and Professor of Law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. He has held leadership positions in several bankruptcy organizations, including service as Secretary to the American Bankruptcy Institute and as Chair of the American Board of Certification.
The Global Insolvency Practice Course began in light of the current economic crisis that many countries are facing and the new challenges the insolvency profession is facing as a result. The Global Insolvency Practice Course provides the extensive knowledge practitioners and turnaround experts need to have of the transnational and international aspects of legal and financial problems of business in distress.
