Don Fawcett, CEO of Local Clicks To Bricks, recently warned marketers not to underestimate Google Plus as a method to market local business.
According to Business Insider May 1, 2013, Google Plus has now surpassed Twitter touting 359 million active users.
Don Fawcett commented, “Google Plus was accused of showing up late to the social party back in 2011 when it first launched. But almost silently, they’ve been gaining ground on Facebook.”
Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg claims 1 billion active monthly users and it is currently the biggest social site in the world.
Don Fawcett’s company, Local Click to Bricks, teaches entrepreneurs how to set up their own business by helping small businesses with their marketing. Now, the company has added building Google Plus campaigns for business owners.
Don Fawcett commented, “Local Clicks to Bricks is unique from other marketing firms because we do the work in-house. Many other firms teach entrepreneurs how to set up Facebook Pages or Google Plus pages. What we do is teach entrepreneurs how to engage with local business the same we get consumers to engage with local business.”
The company’s prime focus is to help small businesses attract new customers by using social media sites such as Google Plus and Facebook.
Don Fawcett added, “What we do is give an entrepreneur a set of tools to contact and close small business owners for marketing campaigns. Then we actually carry out the campaign ourselves instead of leaving it up to the individual to figure out. It’s a much better model since it takes the brunt of the workload of the individual entrepreneur.”
The Business Insider article mentioned earlier cited a study done by Pew Research Center that stated more than half of US Facebook members had taken breaks from the leading social network. The top reason given was that they were just too busy, and some people also cited fatigue with the service.
Don Fawcett commented, “That’s going to continue to happen. As a new social site starts getting more active users, polices change, the layout changes, privacy concerns emerge. It’s all a part of the social make-up. So some Facebook users who are getting tired of the constant changes Facebook is making are opting for Google Plus.”
