Release of student loan debt resource guide complements new initiative

CareOne will help consumers navigate the maze of managing student loan debts along with their other debts.

CareOne Services, Inc., the largest provider of CareOne Debt Relief Services®, has started offering its Debt Management Plan (DMP) services to consumers who have student loan debt in addition to other unsecured debt. This means that, for the first time, such consumers can avoid the double-digit delinquency rates faced by their peers.

“Previously, consumers with student loan debt as part of their overall debt amount were often deterred from enrolling in a debt management plan because they still had to make multiple payments to their student loan creditors outside the plan,” says Jenny Realo, Chief Product Officer at CareOne. “However, that changes beginning this month, and CareOne is thrilled to extend our help to the future leaders of America.”

CareOne will help consumers navigate the maze of managing student loan debts along with their other debts. Enrollees will receive advice about the best options to consolidate their student loans into one simple payment. They will also receive free assessments of their financial situation from trained Student Loan Specialists.

“The amount of student loan debt surpassed the amount of credit card debt in this country two years ago, and the delinquency rate for student loan debt just surpassed that of credit card debt,” Realo adds. “We’re also seeing consumers allow their student loan payments to go into default, meaning they lose access to government programs and other forms of assistance with repercussions including garnishments of wages or Social Security benefits, withheld tax refunds, and more. But the good news is that CareOne proudly stands ready to help consumers we were previously unable to help.”

To qualify for the new program, consumers must have student loan debt, as well as unsecured debt. They also must be enrolled in, or be in the process of enrolling in, a DMP with CareOne Services, Inc.

To complement this new program, CareOne has released a downloadable Student Loan Debt Resource Guide. To view the guide, which outlines various repayment options to help consumers make informed decisions about their financial situations, click http://www.careonecredit.com/student-loan-guide.

“Once consumers with student loan debt learn how they can benefit from our Guide and our DMP service, they can start enjoying their adult life and benefit from their well-earned education,” says Realo. “CareOne is honored to become a part of that evolution.”
