For the second year, U.S.-based Cypress Benefit Administrators is hosting a conference on cost containment in health benefits with experts in the self-funded insurance industry slated to present. The event, Cypress University, returns to Las Vegas after a successful first year and kicks off this week with sessions on everything from prescription drug cost control to innovations in stop loss insurance.

Cypress University Second Annual Conference
This conference introduces us to some of the most highly-regarded experts in the industry who represent real solutions to the real issues that are tied to escalating benefit costs.

A third party administrator (TPA) with five locations across the U.S., Cypress Benefit Administrators kicks off its second annual Cypress University in Las Vegas this week after the success of its inaugural conference last year.

The event brings employer-clients and brokers together with some of the top minds in the self-funded insurance industry to learn about the latest trends and advances in containing the costs of health benefits. It also introduces new solutions for keeping the expense of employee benefits in check and covers some of the customization options available.

With over 150 participants scheduled to attend, the three-day conference will open with a welcome from Tom Doney, president and CEO of Cypress Benefit Administrators, and move into a presentation on the current state of the self-funded industry. From there, Cypress University will cover topics related to:

  • The post-PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) world
  • Prescription drug cost control
  • State-of-the-art utilization management programs
  • Innovations in stop loss insurance
  • Ways to encourage employees to be better consumers of healthcare
  • Options for diagnostic imaging

According to Doney, the event serves as an extension of the things learned at the 2012 event and a unique opportunity to focus on the bigger picture in self-funded insurance. “While it’s easy to get caught up in our own day-to-day business doings, Cypress University allows the chance to step back and turn our attention to all things employee benefits,” Doney said. “This conference introduces us to some of the most highly-regarded experts in the industry who represent real solutions to the real issues that are tied to escalating benefit costs.”

In addition to learning about next-generation cost control programs and risk management, attendees will have the chance to participate in Q&A sessions to gain further insight.

Since starting business in 2000, Cypress Benefit Administrators, a privately held company headquartered in Appleton, Wis., has evolved into more than a third party administrator (TPA) by pioneering the way toward cost containment in health benefits. Cypress is the country’s first TPA to bring claims administration, consumer driven health plans and proven cost control measures together into one package. Its customized employee benefit packages combine an appropriate mix of health insurance options that allow for adaptability to the ever-changing healthcare environment and that make sense for employers of 50 to 18,000 throughout the United States.
