A rarity in Hawaii: a brand new botique hotel

According to Travel-Hawaii.com, the new Andaz Maui at Wailea opening in Hawaii in September of 2013, promises a top-end experience for discerning Hawaii tourists.

The Andaz Maui at Wailea is brand new and is being built on the site of the former Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort which closed in 2007. The hotel will have 290 "exquisite" guest rooms and suites, plus 7 residential villas.

The Andaz Maui at Wailea is located on Mokapu Beach in the high-end resort area of Wailea on the south shore of Maui. "It's rare to have a brand new hotel in Hawaii these days," said John Lindelow, owner of Travel-Hawaii.com. "Usually we would see a big re-model of an existing structure, rather than a full tear-down and rebuild."

Among the features is a restaurant by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto called Morimoto Maui. Morimoto also has a popular signature restaurant at the Honolulu Modern Hotel in Waikiki that is extremely popular among tourists and locals alike. The new Morimoto Maui promises to focus on fresh, local ingredients with a Japanese flair.

Among the bragging rights of the Andaz Maui at Wailea is that it is the first hotel in Hawaii to be LEED-certified. That essentially means that the building is "green," and designed to conserve and reduce consumption of water and energy. In addition, the Andaz will utilize eco-friendly, green-oriented amenities throughout the hotel.

Another unique feature of the Andaz Maui at Wailea is the set of four cascading infinity pools designed by the world famous architecture firm The Rockwell Group. View planes and rooms have been designed to take full advantage of views of the multiple infinity pools with the Pacific ocean in the background.

The Andaz hotel chain is a new high-end, botique-like brand managed by Hyatt. Currently 14 Andaz hotels are opened or planned, 7 in the US and 7 spread among Asia, India, and Central America.
