Empower America, a non-profit coalition working to be the largest employer of veterans in the renewable energy industry, and Everblue, a veteran-founded sustainability training company, formed a partnership to provide solar installation and renewable energy training for veterans returning from deployment and looking to reenter the workforce.

Empower America hopes to build the infrastructure needed for American energy independence through workforce funding, strategic partnerships, and sustainability training.

“We believe that a highly trained service-veteran workforce utilizing American-made products can build a world class renewable energy industry,” said Mario Pabon, president and CEO of Empower America. “Service veterans are motivated and ready to transition from the battlefield to construction sites across America. Our mission is to recruit, train and employ veterans in renewable energy projects that we assist in developing.”

Everblue will be the preferred training provider used to accomplish those goals. Empower America will be securing partnerships with American companies that produce American-made renewable energy technologies, and Everblue will provide the training needed to complete the secured contracts.

“Many of Everblue’s employees are veterans,” said Vince DiFrancesco, vice president of operations and administration at Everblue. “I’m a veteran, so Empower America’s mission to provide assistance with workforce development and financing for American veterans is a relevant issue. We feel strongly about working with veterans’ groups and helping to prepare them for the workforce after fulfilling their military commitments.”

Empower America plans to deploy 100 veteran-built solar demonstration projects in California cities. They will serve as a facilitator for local stakeholders from public, private and non-profit sectors to come together. The "100 City Challenge" program has been designed to be the primary strategy adaptable to every city across the nation.
