The latest Yatra Collection designs will be available for purchase at this show and directly through the private label’s designers.

Yatra collections – India inspired apparel and accessories – pay homage to the India of Khosla and Bahadur’s grandmothers, but with a contemporary edge.

A portion of our proceeds from this show will benefit research and support to people fighting this cancer.

The Yatra Collection will help raise money to fight multiple myeloma at its next private truck show, Thursday, May 16, in Chicago.

“Multiple myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells, a type of white blood cell present in your bone marrow,” according to the Mayo Clinic. “Plasma cells normally make proteins called antibodies to help you fight infections. Though there's no cure for multiple myeloma, with good treatment results you can usually return to near-normal activity.”

Events like this private show “is what it means for us to promote fashion with a social mission,” said Yatra Collection's Rati Bahadur, who co-founded the Yatra Collection with childhood friend, Gayatri Khosla. “A portion of our proceeds from this show will benefit research and support to people fighting this cancer.”

The Yatra Collection – an independent fashion label featuring an artistic line of handmade, India-inspired apparel and accessories – pays homage to the India of several generations ago, but with a contemporary edge.

“Many of the private and boutique shows we participate in are fundraisers and really get at the heart of our drive to promote fashion with a social mission,” said Khosla.

Yatra, in Indian traditions, means journey, or procession. And that’s what the collection has been for Khosla and Bahadur, long time friends who attended boarding school together in India and realized their dreams of one day merging their creative interests in fashion to create their own label.

The Yatra Collection focuses on simple silhouettes, classic pieces and perfect tailoring.

The newest pieces in the Yatra Collection include jewelry with natural stones, sari-inspired shirts, embroidered and chiffon tunics, stoles and sari border crop tops.

The clothes represent the vibrancy of every day life in India. The pieces are colorful, bright and echo the India Khosla and Bahadur love so much.

Khosla and Bahadur do not decide on a color palette until they travel to India and absorb the streets, the bazaars, the food, the music, the conversation and textures of life in cities big and small.

“Our philosophy is to offer handcrafted designs and promote artisans and trade from India,” said Khosla.

The Yatra Collection is featured in chic boutiques across the country and overseas. Interested in a private trunk show, or finding Yatra Collection near you? Visit for more information.

Long time friends since they were together at boarding school in India, Gayatri Khosla and Rati Bahadur knew that they would one day merge their creative interests in fashion and design to create their own label. Their complementary styles, interests and expertise have allowed them the freedom to bring the vibrancy and exclusive hand-craftsmanship of India to the western shores.

They design and work with high-end artisans to put together a collection a few times each year. The co-founders travel to India and immerse themselves in the chaos, and the vivid abundance of exquisite craftsmanship of artisans, two aspects that exist side by side and are so typical of India. It is in India that the designs come to life.
