“We want dishes that marry the unconventional and conventional, much like we do."
(PRWEB) May 16, 2013
A Scandalously Fabulous Life wants strangely delectable dishes. The site, which usually focuses on life, love and every strange thing in between, seeks entries from those who can put ingredients together that usually aren’t thought to mix well. Then these ingredients should be combined into something that’s mind-blowing.
CEO and Founder, N. Meridian writes, “We want dishes that marry the unconventional and conventional, much like we do. If you use an ingredient in a dish that most people would consider strange, but when people taste the dish, they are absolutely blown away and are in awe of your cooking skills, then post it to our site for a chance to win a $50 prize.”
Is the site asking for global dishes that includes eyeball, brains, intestines, hair, or any other gross thing a person can think of? Nope. Remember, we want strangely edible and delicious, not frighteningly gagorific.
As if that weren’t enough, N. Meridian adds, “your posts of your food creations will be promoted on our social media pages, including our Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest social media pages, so that others can live vicariously through your “strange” food experiences.”
What can still be bought with $50 today? Hmm. Let’s see. Dinner for two at a decent casual dining restaurant; a cute sun dress with matching accessories and flip flops (for fashionistas who know how to save), a few packs of diapers and baby food, a tank of gas (Okay--but just barely), a pair of movie tickets with popcorn and snacks, blah blah blah.
The point is that anyone can create a meal that’s delicious. In fact, there is much of the usual fare that includes chicken or beef-based meals. But how many people can create a wonderfully strange, yet deliciously edible dish? With that said, many food competitions have forced its contestants to adhere to strict guidelines, which stifle the creative process. ASFL asks that you simply make something that is daring, creative and edible. It can be a sandwich, a full-course meal, even a dessert, as long as the creation is edible.
Challenge conventions. Think outside of the Duncan Hines ready made cake mix. For those who can demonstrate how peppers and chocolate should be mixed into a yummy delight, do that. For those foodies who loves to travel and enjoys original food creations—without the eyeballs or brains included—they know where to post.
Lastly, the SF community asks that users share, share, share their weird, cringe-worthy, eye-popping dishes with other users. This contest will end Monday, June 3rd. For more on this contests, users can see all contest rules on the site. With that said, the SF community embraces the quirkier side of life, love, food and everything else in between.
