North Carolina and Virginia Launch Events are slated for Benco Dental’s Lucy Hobbs Project. Each inspiring networking event will feature engaging speakers and activities in unique locations nationwide.

After establishing The Lucy Hobbs Project nationally, Benco Dental has completed the first regional launch event aimed at advancing the movement on a local basis. Upcoming events are scheduled for June in North Carolina and Virginia with more to come throughout 2013.

The Lucy Hobbs Project honors the courage, tenacity and leadership of its namesake in blazing a trail to become the first female dentist. The Project is a movement aimed at creating an inclusive, encouraging environment for women of all backgrounds to connect with one another. Each local event is an opportunity for creative, motivated individuals to come together and innovate the future of the dental industry while developing opportunities to give back to their local communities by providing dental care to those who can’t afford it.

“We recognize there is so much more we can accomplish by engaging passionate participants regularly on a local level,” said Julie Radzyminski, director of business innovation. “We also believe that what happens at the regional networking events will drive momentum for our annual national celebration and help to organically shape its agenda.”

Unique locations, engaging speakers and inspiring activities will highlight each and every event. The kickoff launch was hosted at Pure Movement Dance and Fitness on May 9th in Allen, Texas. Keynote speaker Tracey Yukich spoke about her experience on TV’s The Biggest Loser, how she went from a size 22 to 8, and her mission to help women nationwide reclaim their lives through diet and nutrition. The event also featured a meet and mingle, Q&A and Zumba Master Class.

Other exciting events are planned for Cary, North Carolina on Thursday, June 6 and Richmond, Virginia on Thursday, June 13. The programs are free to attend and open to all professionals and consumers in the dental industry. The regional launches follow the first-annual Lucy Hobbs Project Celebration, which was held at Benco Dental’s The CenterPoint Experience in Costa Mesa, California on April 10. A national networking, innovation and personal development event, the Celebration was hosted by award-winning actress Helen Hunt and featured a full slate of noted speakers including former HGTV host Joan Steffend, co-founder of the non-profit “Peace Begins With Me” and Julie Gilbert-Newrai, Founder/Principal at Wolf Means Business.

Among the Celebration’s highlights was announcing the Your Ticket To Ride Give-Back Raffle to benefit Smiles for Success. Grand prize is a custom chopper built by Paul Teutul Jr. of Paul Jr. Designs, whose unique motorcycles gained enormous fame on TV’s “American Choppers.” The proceeds will help women transitioning from welfare to work who cannot afford the cost of dental care. Treatment recipients face job interviews with confidence – and without the self-consciousness, embarrassment and pain of attempting to hide decayed, missing and damaged teeth. Tickets are just $25. Benco Dental customers can redeem their BluChip rewards for tickets or order through the company’s Painless system electronically.
