Networks First are now offering FlexPod as part of their wide range of services for businesses with converged infrastructures.

FlexPod is a multi-vendor datacentre solution resulting from the alliance between Cisco and NetApp. It consists of Cisco Unified Computing (UCS) & Unified Fabric Technology (Nexus) and NetApp Fabric Attached Storage (FAS). A virtualisation hypervisor sits on top of this hardware stack – typically VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V.

FlexPod is tailored to meet changing customer requirements – whether private, public or hybrid cloud – solving the challenges of shifting workloads and overlay applications which are present in the ‘accidental architecture’ and ‘silo computing’ typical of many datacentres today.

FlexPod is modular in nature, bringing together infrastructure building blocks to assure scalability and performance in a repeatable architecture. FlexPod comprises industry leading blade and rack-mounted servers, network switching and storage components, and is virtualisation ready.

Networks First have been a provider of Cisco solutions for over 10 years, winning the award for Cisco Services Partner UK&I of the year in 2010. Networks First are also a NetApp partner making the company the ideal choice for your FlexPod project.

Well suited for both large and medium sized enterprises FlexPod can be scaled up for greater performance and capacity, or scaled out for environments that need consistent and multiple deployments.

FlexPod is pre-designed, pre-validated and pre-sized which means that multiple efficiencies are realised from the outset. The flexible platform scales out and up: reducing time to production, total cost of ownership and business risk.

The system optimises performance whilst reducing the risk involved. Customers benefit from a single co-operative support model which avoids the ‘finger pointing’ that can often occur between manufacturers in complex datacentre environments. The vendors simply work together as one, and all approved FlexPods are supported.

Speaking on behalf of Networks First Peter Titmus, Chairman commented, “Businesses are constantly being faced with the challenges of inefficient IT infrastructures. Many organisations have started to move away from using inflexible IT silos and are increasingly favouring a more converged, virtualised approach to their data centre architecture. We’re confident that by implementing the FlexPod system businesses can improve their IT agility, lower costs and improve their overall efficiency.”

“Networks First is proud to have a positive working relationship with Cisco and NetApp. We’re confident that the introduction of FlexPod to our portfolio of services will be a huge success.”

Networks First has over 20 years’ experience in providing network services to businesses and organisations throughout the UK. Their customers include several high profile organisations, Universities and councils who are all benefiting from uncompromised technology and service.
