As it strives to offer a complete insurance staffing solution to client companies, The James Allen Companies, Inc., has added contract staffing services.

Established in 2000, The James Allen Companies is a staffing firm specializing in insurance recruitment on a national scope. They help all types of insurance companies fill jobs in every department and a full spectrum of titles, including actuaries, auditing, accounting, claims, credit, loss control, marketing, sales, human resource, information technology, risk management and underwriting, President Jeff Gipson said.

With the addition of contract staffing services, they can now help solve every type of staffing issue their clients may encounter as well.

“Personally, I think the more services you can offer a client, the more stable the relationship,” he said. “I think it’s a needed service. The marketplace is very unusual right now.”

Insurance companies utilize contract professionals for a wide range of unique staffing challenges. For instance, a company might utilize a contractor to fill a position when someone is out on leave, Gipson said. On a larger scale, there is a trend in the insurance industry where people will work “cat duty,” following storms to handle catastrophic claims.

“They work four to five storms a year,” Gipson said. “They are strong claims professionals with strong property backgrounds.”

Contract staffing is also becoming an attractive option for retirees. Many are coming back to or remaining in the workplace through a trend known a retiree re-staffing.

“More mature candidates have a lot to give,” Gipson said. “They still don’t want to retire, but they don’t want to work in a fixed position for another 10 years. Those people are very interested in contract staffing.”

By contracting through The James Allen Companies, professionals can also enjoy many of the perks of traditional employment. The firm uses the contract staffing back-office services of Top Echelon Contracting. As the W-2 employer for The James Allen Companies’ contractors, TEC provides them with a weekly paycheck with the option of direct deposit, required tax withholdings, access to a full menu of benefits (including healthcare reform compliant health insurance), and Workers’ Compensation and Unemployment protection.
