Wayne Farms Awards Scholarships To Local Students

Continuing the tradition of supporting higher education, Wayne Farms Danville recently awarded three scholarships totaling $2,500 to local graduating high school seniors.

Continuing the tradition of supporting higher education, Wayne Farms Danville recently awarded three scholarships totaling $2,500 to local graduating high school seniors. Wayne Farms scholarships are offered to nominated children and grandchildren of Wayne Farms’ employees and producers based on their academic accomplishments.

The 2013 recipients of the college scholarships include:

  •     Montel A. Jiles of Danville High School ($1000 Scholarship), Son of Michael and Amy Jiles. Montel will attend the University of Central Arkansas and pursue a degree in Business Management.
  •     Mervin Vergara of Two-Rivers High School($1000 Scholarship), Son of Alberto and Carmen Vergara. Mervin will attend Arkansas Tech University in the fall of this year.
  •     Mckenzie Garner Of Danville High School ($500Scholarship), Son of Troy and Terri Garner. Mckenzie plans to attend Arkansas Tech University in the fall, studying Agricultural Business.

“Wayne Farms believes in the importance of higher education for our youth,” says Nancy Frick, coordinator of the Wayne Farms scholarship program. “We are so proud of the academic achievements of these individuals and we wish them much success in their future career endeavors.”

The Wayne Farms Danville facility consists of a 79,783 square-foot processing plant, 25,658 square-foot feed mill and a 39,280 square-foot hatchery. The facility employs more than 800 people from Perry, Pope and Yell counties.
