I believe the work of the Houston Symphony is an integral part of making Houston a great place to work and live, and I’m looking forward to positively contributing to the organization in any way I can.

Rand Group’s President and CEO, Ron Rand works attentively both to grow his business and to contribute to the community around him. A delicate balance between driving his organization to deliver success to their growing roster of clients, and committing enough resources to effectively give back to the community, Ron continually seeks out opportunities to enhance his community commitment. With a passion for classical music, Ron felt a natural connection to the Houston Symphony and has taken a personal interest in helping it make meaningful contributions to the Houston area.

Sitting on the Symphony Board of Governors allows Ron Rand to actively contribute to the achievements of the Houston Symphony, such as improving educational opportunities, enriching family lives, giving assistance to aspiring musicians, and improving the community at large. It also furthers his ability to engage with Houston Symphony initiatives, such as the Family Concert Series that Rand Group has long supported through underwriting and volunteers.

"As the Houston Symphony approaches its Centennial Season, we are committed to growing both the effectiveness of our community programs and the influence of our Board of Governors. Ron's involvement with the Houston Symphony will help us to accomplish both of these important goals,” says Mark Hanson, Executive Director & CEO of the Houston Symphony.

The Houston Symphony plans several community based initiatives each year, as a method for engaging people and expanding their presence. Their community events include five free concerts at Miller Outdoor Theatre, 90 Community Connections performances by small ensembles in schools, hospitals and churches, and their twelve “Sounds Like Fun!” concerts which take place across Houston. They also provide educational opportunities to local schools with their Symphony Detectives and Symphony Explorers programs, as well as their Youth Orchestra Partnership Program. Finally, they provide culturally relevant concerts, such as the Fiesta Sinfonica concert which occurs during Hispanic Heritage Month and the Lunada concert in partnership with the Mexican institute.

“I believe strongly in the value of classical music in our community. I think it’s extremely important for children and families to both have access to a range of activities, and to enjoy and learn from them. The Houston Symphony does an excellent job at connecting with their audience, and puts forward a diverse selection of performances and events that appeal to people of all ages and walks of life. I believe the work of the Houston Symphony is an integral part of making Houston a great place to work and live, and I’m looking forward to positively contributing to the organization in any way I can. Further, sitting on the Board of Governors enables me to better identify how I can get Rand Group involved,” says Ron Rand, President and CEO of Rand Group.

Ron has a strong commitment to serving as a business leader in the community and continues to fulfill this role. He is an active participant and supporter of the Houston Humane Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Houston, public television station HoustonPBS (KUHT), Houston Public Radio (KUHF), Houston Symphony, Alley Theatre, and the Houston Zoo. As part of his dedication, he is consistently leading Rand Group in their search for new and impactful ways to give back to the community.
