As part of Better Hearing Month, we’re inviting people to tell us how tinnitus has impacted their lives, or the lives of family members.
Eden Prairie, MN (PRWEB) May 22, 2013
Starkey Hearing Technologies is inviting tinnitus sufferers, as well as those affected by a family member’s tinnitus, to tell how the condition has impacted his or her life for a chance to win tinnitus treatment.
Tinnitus is the medical term for the sensation of hearing sound or ringing in the ears when no external sound is present. In most cases, tinnitus is a subjective noise, meaning only the sufferer can hear it. While many things can potentially cause or trigger tinnitus – including age-related hearing loss, noise exposure or certain medications – there is no known tinnitus cure.
“New Xino Tinnitus provides tinnitus relief in the form of a nearly invisible receiver-in-canal (RIC) device,” said Sara Burdak, an audiologist with Starkey Hearing Technologies. “Xino uses a customizable sound stimulus to help sufferers manage their unique tinnitus symptoms. The device is programmed by a hearing professional to deliver consistent, personalized relief which is essential for effective tinnitus treatment.”
“As part of Better Hearing Month, we’re inviting people to tell us how tinnitus has impacted their lives, or the lives of family members,” said Burdak. “Our panel of judges will choose the winning story, and the winner will receive a set of Xino Tinnitus hearing aids, plus a custom fitting by a hearing care professional.”
The Xino Tinnitus treatment contest is open to U.S. residents age 18 and older, and the official contest rules are available here. The contest ends on May 31, 2013 at 11:59 pm (CDT). The winner will be announced on the Starkey Hearing Facebook page on June 11, 2013.
