The Institute of Regenerative & Molecular Orthopedics, a leading provider of platelet-rich plasma therapy injections and stem cell therapy, is applauding the just-released results of a study emphasizing the improved outcomes for individuals with jumper’s knee who undergo PRP injections.
The study, conducted by researchers in Rome, showed that PRP was more effective than extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in the treatment of athletes with jumper’s knee. Researchers concluded that therapeutic injections of PRP led to better midterm clinical results, compared to shock wave therapy.
Researchers randomized 46 athletes into two groups—and participants in each group had runner’s knee. One group received PRP injections, while the other received ESWT. The PRP grouped had significantly improved results in Victorian Institute of Sports Assessment-Patella, VAS and modified Blazina scale scores compared to the ESWT group at 6-month and 12-month follow-up.
