Content is key to "Growing Your Business in a Post-Mad Men World"

Today it takes more than a glossy ad and a catchy tagline to get through to customers and prospects.

On Thursday, May 23, Rachel Parker, President of Resonance Content Marketing, will present to the Houston chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) on “Growing Your Business in a Post–Mad Men World.”

“Businesses large and small are continuing to rely on the same old approaches for promoting their brands—variations on the message ‘buy my stuff’—but the world has changed,” notes Parker. “Today it takes more than a glossy ad and a catchy tagline to get through to customers and prospects. First you need to build a foundation of trust, and the most effective way to do that is by delivering quality content.”

This practice, commonly known as “content marketing,” is already taking root among businesses around the world—and not just the big brands. In a recent survey by among small-business owners and marketers, over 74 percent of respondents indicated they plan to increase their levels of content marketing in 2013.

“In our current environment, we have more venues than ever for connecting with customers—social media, blogs, websites, video, mobile, the list goes on.” Parker adds. “And if we use these opportunities strategically to share content that delivers value, we can begin building that foundation of trust. Then, when we do come on with our marketing message, the people in our audience tend to be much more receptive.”

Parker's presentation, “Growing Your Business in a Post–Mad Men World,” will take place on Thursday, May 23, from 11 am to 1 pm, at Maggiano’s Little Italy, 2019 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056. To reserve a spot, visit
