e-Builder, the pioneer in fully integrated, cloud-based construction program management software, announced today that Indiana’s most comprehensive healthcare system, Indiana University Health has selected e-Builder Enterprise™ to manage its capital construction program. The healthcare organization, which sees over 2 million patients each year, decided to move towards a lean construction methodology.

In 2012, Indiana University Health decided to move towards a lean construction methodology, including plans to implement a construction program management system. The hospital system is using e-Builder Enterprise as a means of communication and reporting. “I would spend a week or so gathering information by hand from the project managers,” said Shayda Bradley, Director of Project Management, on the methods used prior to e-Builder Enterprise. “Once I had the data, it was out of date.” With all of the information and documents being added to e-Builder Enterprise in real-time now, Bradley and her team are able to gather the information in 20 minutes rather than days and weeks.

In addition to Reporting and Document storage, Indiana University Health is tracking costs in the construction program management software, as well as automating their business processes. For example, previously, when the organization needed contract approvals, they would email several people to get it approved. “Now it’s all done through e-Builder and we can track the progress,” says Kevin Richardson, Project Engineer. “Before it would take days to get approved, and now it takes about 1 day.” Richardson adds, “We really wanted a system that was easy-to-use, visually appeasing and something that a person without much experience could pick up and get going pretty quickly.” That system is e-Builder Enterprise.

With many people reporting to C-Suite executives, the hospital also needed an easy way to see where projects stood with contractors, at any given moment. “We are big on diversity and participation,” says Bradley. “We require all vendors to use e-Builder and we monitor their participation. We couldn’t measure that before.”

“We continue to see more and more organizations moving towards a lean construction methodology like Indiana University Health,” says Jon Antevy, Co-Founder. “e-Builder Enterprise will help the hospital eliminate waste and streamline processes so they can focus on what really matters, the patient.”
