The Portrait Society of America Honors South Carolina Artist John Schaeffer an Award of Excellence in Their 2013 International Competition

The Ballroom of The Hyatt Grand in Atlanta was the perfect backdrop for an exciting evening to honor 40 of the top Portrait artists in the world out of over 2000 entries received.

My portraits address the spirit residing in each of us. I go beneath the surface and the results of my labor produce a spiritual as well as a physical portrait. The eyes are indeed the windows to the soul.

John Schaeffer, of Seneca, South Carolina, has received an award of excellence from The Portrait Society of America’s 2013 International Competition. John’s work, Light of the Soul, was chosen one of 40 from over 2000 entries, to be recognized. The Gala awards banquet was held on April 27th at the Hyatt Grand Atlanta during this year’s 4 day conference hosted by The Portrait Society of America. Artists from all over the world were in attendance.

John's piece Ramona's Light can be seen in the Blue Ridge Art Show running from May 17th -June 21st in Seneca, South Carolina.

John is a master using Charcoal and white pastel to create not only realistic results but he captures the essence of the spirit of his subjects resulting in breathtaking portraits. Subjects may sit or submit several photographs for John's approval.
