Originally called Touch the Thing for its high level of interactivity, TTT allows users to see and touch an object while hearing the corresponding word in the chosen language, as well as in English.
“TTT is a fun, affordable, easy-to-use app that entertains and educates children and adults alike,” says Rashin M. Taheri, founder and CEO of AppTalia. “It’s perfect for introducing new words to toddlers and is an effective way for children, teenagers, and adults to learn a second language.” The app may also be used for speech and behavioral therapy purposes, she adds.
TTT features a dozen colorful pages, including pictures of fruits, vegetables, and the human face; common outdoor scenes (farm, river, jungle, and street); and rooms within a house (kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and family room). Two language options—Korean and Swedish—have been added to the original list of ten (Spanish, Italian, French, German, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Chinese, Persian, and English.) The new version also includes an interactive quiz section that lets users select and play with their favorite pet characters when they answer questions correctly.
These three factors—seeing objects in their proper setting, hearing words pronounced by native speakers, and being able to test their progress—will help all users learn quickly, regardless of their age, says Taheri.
Two version of TTT are available. The free lite version includes access to all 12 languages on objects in the family room setting only. The full version, available for $2.99, delivers access to all 12 sections, all 12 languages, and the quiz feature.
TTT works on all Apple and Android phones and tablets and is available from the Apple iTunes Store and Google Play.
