The Jackson Companies in Myrtle Beach, S.C. has promoted Ron Welchel to the position of Vice President of Human Resources, Safety & Risk Management. Welchel is responsible for employee relations; compensation and benefit design and administration; staffing; safety; risk management and training.

Since joining The Jackson Companies, Welchel has focused on integrating technology into the hiring and application process. Managers have heralded the streamlined process allowing them to fill positions more quickly to meet their manpower needs. The new hire training process has also been revamped so that training and administrative requirements are met more efficiently.
With rising health care costs a concern for all American businesses, Welchel has helped to re-introduce the teammates’ wellness program, “Teammates Getting Into Fitness” (TGIF), by utilizing more online technology and tools through the ADP Vitality Program. Welchel implemented the new additions while addressing the concerns of some teammates that do not feel as comfortable with today’s technology.
During the past 33 years, Welchel has garnered an impressive resume in Human Resources. The past 10 years, Welchel has served as Vice President of Human Resources in the health care arena for Community Home Health Care and Hospice Inc. and the Winyah Health Care Group, LLC. He focused on enhancing employee benefits and reducing company expenses as well as innovative training techniques and improved retention. Many locals would know Welchel from when he was Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Canal Industries, Inc. in Conway, SC from 1992-2001.
Welchel resides in Murrells Inlet with his wife, Angie. Ron is a Cum Laude graduate of the University of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. In addition to fishing and travel, they enjoy spending time with their two children, Sarah and Wesley. Ron and Angie are active members of Belin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.
