IBS is a chronic disease currently estimated to affect up to 55 million Americans. This newest grid report by Liquid Grids finds that on Facebook for example, 55% are female with 66% aged 18-55. By applying disease persona analytics Liquid Grids has determined the 35% discuss their symptoms and 49% mention the diagnosis of IBS. The most common terms associated with IBS were Constipation, Pain, Diet, Stress, Anxiety and Depression.

Of note, approximately 55% of consumers discuss treatments like peppermint, herbal remedies, probiotics but less than 2% mention specific pharmaceutical brands including recently approved Linzess®.
