London, UK (PRWEB UK) 22 May 2013

Aung San Suu Kyi has announced that she will be attending next month's Myanmar Oil & Gas Summit in Yangon.

The Myanmar Oil & Gas Summit is the leading Oil & Gas conference in Myanmar and is organised by UK based company Oliver Kinross.

Following democratic reform and the ending of international sanctions, Myanmar has become one of the world's most sought after investment destinations. With vast levels of Oil & Gas and natural resources, huge opportunities have become apparent for international Oil & Gas companies that were previously restricted from entering Myanmar.

After the last Myanmar Oil & Gas Summit in February 2013, it became clear that international oil & gas companies are taking record levels of interest in Myanmar. Neil McKenzie, the Conference Production Manager of the Myanmar Oil & Gas Summit, has said that: “We host Oil & Gas conferences all around world, but we have never seen as much international interest in one country as we are currently seeing in Myanmar. Democratic reform and the ending of international sanctions has led to huge numbers of international companies now looking to invest in Myanmar. Due to the very high level of international interest in Myanmar at the moment we are delighted to hear that Aung San Suu Kyi has decided to attend the Myanmar Oil & Gas Summit.”

In addition to meeting Aung San Suu Kyi, one of the main reasons international Oil & Gas operators are attending the Myanmar Oil & Gas Summit is to learn about the two dozen offshore blocks coming up for licence. An official has stated, "Arrangements are under way to invite bidding for about two dozen offshore blocks in April. The significance of this round will be that investors won't have to enter mandatory joint ventures with local companies."

"International oil and gas giants such as Royal Dutch Shell PLC, Chevron Corp, ConocoPhillips and Exxon Mobil Corp were waiting to bid for the new offshore blocks."

Oliver Kinross are organisers of numerous conferences in Myanmar and focus in the Oil & Gas, International Trade and Investment, Power & Electricity, and Mining sectors.

The previous Myanmar Oil & Gas Summit has had excellent feedback from delegates and sponsors:

“We appreciate that Oliver Kinross arranged this opportunity. We can make good network by attending this conference. Particularly investment regulations and environmental presentations are helpful.” – Naoki Yonezawa, Mitsui Oil Exploration Co.

“The Oliver Kinross team was professional and attentive. This resulted in open, friendly networking and an overall energetic event.” – Sean Danley, Halliburton

The 2nd Myanmar Oil & Gas Summit will take place on the 17th & 18th June 2013 with a Golf Networking day on the 19th. The conference will allow attendees to benefit from expert insight in to the potential of future bidding rounds. It will also analyse what the Exploration & Production prospects are for the offshore and onshore blocks, with a detailed update of the current status of the bidding on the recent blocks announced. The event will also feature an extensive analysis on best practice for local content. There will be a special focus on how to deliver value in: Social Responsibility, Environmental Issues, Development, Investment, Capacity and Education. There will be extensive networking opportunities with high numbers of oil and gas companies, local and other stake holders.
