Powered by a USB port, the lamp only consumes 1.2 watts of power

It has been reported on gizmag.com that the lamp uses virtually any bottle as its base, as long as the neck of the bottle is big enough. Bases can be changed easily and all that is needed to turn the light on is a simple touch. Powered by a USB port, the lamp only consumes 1.2 watts of power. It does however, offer limited brightness, making it more suited to mood lighting. The LED is rated for 50,000 hours.

Best known for their affordable range of LED domestic and commercial lighting, Simple Lighting offers LEDs suitable for every room of the home, as well as energy efficient LED strip lights and tape lights. The team is naturally interested by creative new additions to the market, and this latest one prompted a representative to share their thoughts on the subject.

“Not only does this LED help people save energy, it also encourages recycling. It would be good to see how many different types of bottles could be used, to match different interiors or perhaps just reignite good memories. We will be interested to see if the idea catches on.”
