New York, NY (PRWEB) May 23, 2013
Producer Garen Barsegian and fledgling writer/director Micael Preysler have launched a Kickstarter campaign for Preysler’s directorial debut feature film, “Lily & Kat.” The film, described as a "hot mess quarter-life crisis," involves two inseparable best friends, “Lily” and “Kat” who celebrate their final days together in New York City savoring the intoxicating nightlife and entertaining the affections of an enigmatic artist. In his first foray as a writer/director of a feature film, the 23-year-old Preysler and his crew wrapped production on “Lily & Kat” last November. The movie was shot in New York at multiple locations and soundstages around Manhattan and Brooklyn.
“Lily & Kat” follows fashion school graduate Lily (Jessica Rothe) who finds her world turned upside down when her charismatic best friend Kat (Hannah Murray) announces she's moving away to London in a matter of days. At a Lower East Side art show the next night, they meet the enigmatic artist Henri (Jack Falahee), who Lily quickly takes a liking for. With less than seven days left, and a new attractor between them, Lily and Kat will find their "unbreakable" friendship put to the test.
In November 2012, the unexpected arrival and devastating aftermath of Super Storm Sandy, forced producers to utilize designated post-production funds to complete the shooting of “Lily & Kat.” By launching a fundraising campaign through Kickstarter, Barsegian and Preysler hope to raise $25,000 in 30 days. Donors can enjoy a variety of acknowledgement gifts including a Bluray copy of the film private screening invites and artwork by NYC artist Serban Ionescu. A teaser trailer for the film is currently available for viewing on “Lily & Kat’s” Kickstarter web page.
Preysler’s ascending reputation in the industry enabled him to attract a talented cast and crew including two young, up and coming lead actresses with over a dozen film and television credits to their names: Hannah Murray and Jessica Rothe. Murray is best known for her role as Cassie in the British television series “Skins” and recently returned as a series regular on the third season of HBO’s mega hit series “Game of Thrones” in the role of Gilly. “Game of Thrones” has obtained an exceptionally broad and active international fan base and received widespread international acclaim by critics, and multiple awards. Murray will next be seen in Stuart Murdoch’s “God Help the Girl.” Meanwhile, Rothe has developed an impressive résumé with guest appearances on hit television shows including “Blue Bloods,” “Gossip Girl,” and “Happy Endings.” She will next be seen in the upcoming film “The Last Keepers,” starring Academy Award® winner Olympia Dukakis and Zosia Mamet of HBO’s Emmy Award-winning series “Girls.” Jack Falahee, Chris Riggi, Scott Evans, Mimi Gianopulos, Alesandra Assante, Sue Jean Kim, and David Wilson Barnes round out the talented “Lily & Kat” cast.
With the film gearing up for its final stages, Newcomer writer/director Preysler, a cousin of pop star Enrique Iglesias, may be well on his way to continuing the family’s successful legacy in the entertainment industry. His talented crew is anchored by producer Garen Barsegian (http://www.GarenPictures.com) who has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business including Nas, Swedish House Mafia, Outasight, and Usher. The film is co-produced by Brooke McDaniel & Areg Barsegian. Todd Antonio Somodevilla, lauded for the concert segments of “Beyoncè: Life Is But a Dream,” serves as Director of Photography. Original music is being created by the electronic artist Glowbug who has been featured on MTV’s “Washington Heights” and other MTV programming.
