Having built a highly successful business from his lifetime pursuit of science and innovation, William B. Neuberg has been recognized by his peers for his considerable accomplishments by being named Man of the Year by the Metro New York Printing Ink Association. Mr. Neuberg’s company, Shamrock Technologies, is a leading supplier of advanced materials to the commercial printing ink industry.
A 1954 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Mr. Neuberg entered Navy Flight Training, and flew as a Navy pilot until 1958, when he went to work as a chemist at Baroid Corp. He was recalled to military flight again during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but later returned to work for his father’s company, Shamrock, where he honed his instincts for technology and problem solving. In the years since, Mr. Neuberg has expanded Shamrock to a position of industry leadership, including a network of six advanced manufacturing facilities on three continents and sales to over 70 countries.
A scientist with an endless curiosity, Mr. Neuberg has developed numerous grinding processes for waxes used in printing inks, and introduced the use of PTFE (teflon-type material) in printing ink. His technical achievements also include investigating mechanisms on how waxes work to impart rub resistance in printing inks and patenting the process to make PTFE micropowders. Mr. Neuberg’s innovations are now regularly found throughout the printing ink industry.
Joon Choo, Vice President of Shamrock Technologies, was Master of Ceremonies at the presentation. “Bill Neuberg is a man of immense intelligence, energy, and skill, and thankfully these traits are embodied in his company, Shamrock Technologies. Through Shamrock, and especially through all the people he has mentored and trained over the years, it is difficult to overestimate how much Bill has contributed to the world of ink technology.”
