Medicine Under Attack
Through a series of anecdotes from his time practicing medicine, the author sheds light on the American medical system, including its quality, costs and how it compares to foreign medical care.

Healthcare is a hot-button issue in the United States. Consumers question why the medical system is so expensive and whether the standard of care is still one of the best in the world.

In “Medicine Under Attack: And Other Essays” (published by Xlibris), retired family physician Clyde W. Johnson, M.D. cuts through the misinformation spread by media and politicians by depicting his experiences as a medical professional, providing an insider’s perspective on the realities of the modern healthcare industry.

“I wrote this book because no one has pointed out the history of how we have come to such expensive and intrusive medical care system over the 50 years I have been involved as a family physician,” Johnson says.

Through a series of anecdotes from his time practicing medicine, the author sheds light on the American medical system, including its quality, costs and how it compares to foreign medical care.

“I saw so many unfair criticisms and attacks by politicians and others who seemed to me to have an agenda of taking control of a profession that they didn’t know much about, didn’t understand, and didn’t care if they caused it damage,” Johnson says. “I wanted the public to be aware of the damage caused, and who is responsible.”
