Interactive Strategies, a digital marketing agency based in Washington, DC, announced Monday the launch of Totem (http://www.totemdrupal.com), a new community-building software based on the popular open source platform, Drupal. Members of the Interactive Strategies development team are in Portland, OR this week for the official release of Totem at DrupalCon 2013.
“Totem provides powerful new features that bring people together to organize around common interests, start a discussion and share resources,” says Bruce Namerow, President and Founder of Interactive Strategies. “This knowledge sharing can be powerful and allow organizations to do more with less.”
Additional features include sleek media galleries with commenting capabilities, easy-to-use conversation tools, newsfeeds and an upgraded internal search function based on Drupal’s default search module. It also provides detailed privacy controls that let users share only what they want publicly while keeping other information private or within a selected group. Totem comes out of the box with a fully responsive mobile design so that content will appear properly whether the user is on a desktop, tablet or smartphone.
Totem is currently being deployed by organizations like the World Wildlife Fund, which is using the platform to allow its scientists around the world to communicate better and improve research outcomes. It also powers a new online community site called Memories where users can create online memorials for friends and loved ones who have passed away.
“It has been exciting to see how Totem can be leveraged to create online communities around a variety of needs. We look forward to many more,” says Namerow.
