Following a four-month design transformation and an investment in excess of $12 million by Inland American Lodging Group, Inc., the Renaissance Austin Hotel has completed an extensive renovation that will upgrade the distinctive award-winning property to a new level of pure Austin style.
Located in the Austin Arboretum, close to many of Austin’s most popular destinations, the Renaissance Austin Hotel now features brand new design and upgrades to all 492 of its guest rooms (including 74 suites), its lobby, porte-cochere arrival area, grand ballroom, pre-function areas, technology capacity and exterior grounds landscaping. Driven by the vision of Flick-Mars, one of the world’s leading hotel and leisure property design firms, the renovation’s mission was to create an indigenous and intriguing setting that reflects the culture and unique vibe of Austin.

The hotel’s guest rooms now feature spa-like bathrooms, dramatic new headboards, bedding, carpeting, lighting, furniture, higher broadband Internet capacity and new Internet access points. The tubs in 36 king guest rooms on the top floor were converted to walk-in showers. Fourteen conference suites were transformed into luxury signature suites and the presidential suite received select new furniture pieces, hardwood flooring in the dining area, upgraded bathroom, shower and vanity accessories features. Upgrades to the guest room bathrooms include dramatic wall-sized photography, new lighted mirrors, new vanities, new lighting above tubs, new tile surrounds and new doors that include full-length mirrors
The renovation extends to 21 meeting rooms with upgraded Internet connectivity in 65,000 square feet of total meeting space. In addition to upgraded Internet connectivity, the grand ballroom features new chandeliers, carpeting, wall sconces, wall coverings and a new sound system. The pre-function area adjacent to the ballroom features new chandeliers and wall coverings.
Along with a new custom-made, 23-foot ivory pearl leather sofa, the front lobby features a new custom R Wall at the hotel entry that showcases unique local artisans, unique 1500 pound solid granite benches, new illuminated front desk pods constructed of unique woods, glass and polished stainless, a new front desk backdrop of handmade natural bark, group seating areas, internally illuminated coffee tables, a new art wall and “live life to discover” projection screens. Just outside the lobby the restyled porte-cochere has a new sound system, light fixtures, seating areas, stylized Texas size space heaters and hand-rubbed plaster ceiling finish. The hotel’s outdoor façade includes new landscape features like Texas love grass, custom sculptures, multi-colored lighted globes and terrain height levels.
