Nashville, TN (PRWEB) May 22, 2013
Vital Source Technologies, Inc., an Ingram Content Group company, today announced that Globe University, a comprehensive system of career colleges, universities and training centers that includes Broadview University and Minnesota School of Business, has selected its VitalSource Bookshelf® platform to launch e-learning solutions to educators and students throughout the Globe University system.
“Connecting our students and faculty to e-textbooks and interactive learning tools is a key strategy for Globe University,” said Shana Weiss, Academic Dean with Globe University. “We want to transform how our students learn, engage, connect and apply the skills they learn in the classroom to match those needed within the workplace. We are confident that the Vital Source Bookshelf platform will provide our academic community with robust tools and e-textbook options to enhance the learning experience at our institution."
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standards, a widely-used global technical standard for educational applications, provided a quick and secure way to integrate the innovative content and learning applications of the VitalSource Bookshelf platform into Globe University's curriculum and learning management system Blackboard Learn™.
Through the VitalSource Bookshelf platform, Globe University students and faculty will have the flexibility to access e-textbooks through Blackboard Learn, and content can be used online and offline on a variety of operating systems and devices. Students can make notes, highlights, and annotations in their e-textbooks, all of which automatically sync across devices, and can also share and subscribe to notes and highlights from their peers.
“Through the VitalSource Bookshelf platform, Globe University will help more students and educators experience the newest interactive e-textbooks and learning tools that are in demand today,” said Kent Freeman, Chief Operating Officer, Vital Source Technologies, Inc. “We are pleased to support Globe University in their efforts to make e-textbooks available to all that want them."
