Openbucks, the online cash payment network, won the prestigious 2013 TiE50 global awards for technology startups. TiE, a global organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship across its network, recognized on May 18th at its TiEcon annual conference, Openbucks as one of the top Internet companies of the year. The annual award recognizes 50 winning companies selected among over 1,000 candidates and covers five technology sectors: Internet, Life Sciences, Energy, Mobile and Software.

With Openbucks consumers can pay cash offline for online purchases at thousands of e-commerce sites, simply using the gift cards of major brick and mortar retailers such as Subway, Dollar General, Burger King, Circle-K, Shell and CVS Pharmacy, part of the Openbucks network, which now counts over 75,000 stores and 200,000 point of sales.

Speaking to a global audience at the awards ceremony during TiEcon 2013, the conference Chairman and President of TiE Silicon Valley, Mr. Venkatesh Shukla said that “the TiE50 program screened 1142 companies from 24 countries and 50 best-of-breed companies were announced winners.”
