Future Roots Festival 2013

We take pride in the overwhelming and positive support for the Future Roots Festival that has made it a landmark event for the City.

Now on its second year, the Future Roots Festival of California’s South Bay returns with a showcase and celebration of Asian Pacific American culture, sponsored by Myx TV. Presented by Councilmember Ash Kalra and Asian Americans for Community Involvement (AACI), the all-day outdoor festival takes place on May 25, 2013 at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park in the heart of downtown San Jose, California.

Artists Laura Mam, Tyra From Saigon, Team Loopkicks, akai SKY, Balle Balle Bhangra Boys, Wat Buddhanusorn Thai Classical Dance and Myx TV Press Play’s Alex Carbonel and Tracy Cruz set the stage alight with contemporary and traditional dance and music. Moveable Feast presents scrumptious bites from gourmet food trucks House of Siam on Wheels, We Sushi, Frozen Kuhsterd, Tastee Bytes, Formosa Streets, and more.

“While the festival honors the contributions of Asian and Pacific Islanders throughout American history, it also celebrates the artists, activists, and scholars of today,” says Hon. Ash Kalra, San Jose District 2 City Councilmember. “We take pride in the overwhelming and positive support for the Future Roots Festival that has made it a landmark event for the City.”

“Myx TV is proud to support the Future Roots Festival in San Jose, home to some of our first viewers and strongest supporters when our network launched almost 8 years ago,” says Miguel Santos, General Manager for Myx TV. “We continue to take bold strides together as we create and shine the spotlight on the best of our community.”
