EBlink, the pioneer and world leader in wireless fronthaul solutions, is increasing its market and technical lead with the introduction of FrontLink™ 58, its second-generation wireless fronthaul product.

FrontLink™ 58 is a compact all-in-one outdoor product that provides a wireless connection between a base station base band processing unit (BBU) and its related remote radio heads (RRH) using the CPRI protocol. It offers a more flexible and economical alternative to the optical fiber generally used to connect the BBU and the RRH.

FrontLink™ 58, which features groundbreaking spectral efficiency, digitally interfaces to a BBU and up to three RRHs through CPRI interfaces up to 6.144 Gbps, enabling interoperability with a wide range of base station and radio providers. EBlink’s patented and field-proven technology ensures the downlink and uplink radio KPIs required by mobile operators.

“FrontLink™ 58 dramatically expands the number of potential site locations, allowing operators to easily and rapidly deploy additional RRHs and small RRHs within the existing macro network”, said EBlink CEO Alain Rolland. Bandwidth and coverage is increased without moving intelligence and control further into the network. Centralized baseband processing enables better coordination, minimized interference and homogeneous network management.

Maravedis-Rethink, the leading wireless infrastructure market research company, confirms the potential of this technology: “EBlink’s wireless fronthaul technology provides an attractive solution allowing carriers to expand their network’s capacity and coverage without introducing complex new network layers. FrontLink™ 58 also offers a convenient and flexible solution to future distributed RAN architectures such as the Cloud RAN”, said Esteban Monturus, Senior Analyst.

EBlink’s FrontLink™ 58 shortens the amount of time mobile operators spend on site searches, zoning, negotiation and installation. Reducing civil works to a minimum, FrontLink™ 58 lowers network infrastructure CAPEX/OPEX and delivers enhanced return-on-investment by rapidly and easily bringing radio sites on air.
