The Consumer’s Research Council of America presents awards annually for the top professionals in a wide range of fields, including medicine and surgery. Doctor Eiman Firoozmand, of Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates, has been honored with the Top Surgeon award for 2013. Doctors are chosen for the award from across the United States and strict criteria have to be met. The awards are presented to doctors according to their experience, professional qualifications and their membership in their relevant professional organizations. A points-based system is used to identify the recipients of the awards

Doctor Firoozmand is board certified in both colorectal and general surgery, and is the past Clinical Chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is engaged in private practice with Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates.

About Doctor Firoozmand

A double board certified surgeon, Doctor Firoozmand combines his work at Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates with his teaching role at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He is past Clinical Chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He has been a volunteer on the teaching faculty of the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California for a number of years.

Obtaining his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Davis, Doctor Firoozmand undertook his medical training at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. This was followed by a surgical residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and a Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, where he now teaches. His extensive training has contributed to his receiving the Top Surgeon status for 2013.

His clinical research has also contributed to his having received the Top Surgeon award. His research focuses on a number of different areas relating to bowel disease. The treatment of colon and rectal cancer, benign anorectal disease and the chronic condition of inflammatory bowel disease are his primary research interests. He has consistently focused on the laparoscopic approach to the treatment of colorectal diseases. A particular concern of his is how the outlook can be improved for patients with colon and rectal cancer. He has also been working on the development of new surgical techniques to treat hemorrhoids and anal prolapse, along with Doctor Gary Hoffman, one of his colleagues at Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates. He regularly publishes papers on his research in peer-reviewed journals, with his articles having appeared in The Journal of Trauma and The American Surgeon, among others.

Los Angeles Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates has offices in both Beverly Hills and Culver City, California, serving Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. The five surgeons in the group, Gary H.
