(conversationswithmaria.com)-- Zoe Saldana made an appearance on Maria Menounos' new online talk show, Conversations with Maria on Wednesday. In her appearance, Saldana talked about the loss of her father, starting her own family and the controversy surrounding her Nina Simone biopic.
Zoe on why she thinks Britney Spears stands out from other pop stars:
Zoe says, “[Britney Spears] has a good heart. She doesn't talk bad about people. You can look back at any interview she's done and she never spent one second talking someone down to make herself look better.”
Zoe on the loss of her father:
“I'm going to be 35 in a month and I was 10 [when my father passed away]. It's been what, 25 years since I've said the word 'Dad,'” says Zoe. The actress got emotional recounting memories of her father and family together. She recalls, “My mom never concealed her sadness [about the loss]. Whenever she heard a song that reminded her of my dad. She would just start crying and it was very beautiful.”
Zoe on freezing her eggs, motherhood and aging:
Zoe says, “I am going to [freeze my eggs] because I'm not going to let anybody dictate how, what is considered a 'fruitful' time for me to be a mother and I don't want to have anybody, especially not a man, telling me when my expiration date is coming...men at 50, they're fabulous and at 50, we're so not sexy? Give me a f**king break!”
Zoe on the Nina Simone Biopic Controversy:
“When it comes to race, it's delicate because I don't know how to go into it. Because I wasn't raised in an environment where I labeled things and labeled people...to have to be in the epicenter of a race conversation is very difficult for me, because it's kind of unnatural,” says Zoe.
