The Grommet, an online shopping site and product launch platform for innovative and undiscovered products, is working with local Massachusetts entrepreneur to feature Ice Cold Towels, cooling towels. The Grommet found this product when Ice Cold Towels submitted to the Product Pitch event in March, 2013. The Grommet knew they were perfect to be featured.

The inventor is Joe Martin, who paired two materials -- polyvinyl alcohol and terylene -- to create a super absorptive fabric that cools people down when they're running, biking, climbing or gardening. Evaporation is key to the cooling sensation: When one wets the fabric, the water begins to evaporate at a temperature that’s about 20 degrees cooler than the air temperature. Because the fabric can hold a lot of moisture, the evaporative cooling lasts longer than other products.

Joe’s creation is an easy, comfortable way to beat the heat when someone's working up a sweat or afterwards, when recovering. It can offer relief from a sunburn or fever, too.
